R. Dallas West, 47, of Rt. 6, who operated the Westbrook Nursing Horne here, died at his home, Rt. 6, Crawfordsville, Thursday afternoon after a year's illness. A son of George R. and Bessie Jarred West, he was born July 24, 1923 at Waynetown. He married Polly Warock on July 3, 1948, at Lafayette. He was a Battelground High School graduate and attended Purdue University. He was employed for a time by the university. Mr. West also farmed, was in the insurance business and operated a dry cleaning establishment at Darlington. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Byron Cox Post 72, American Legion, the 40 and 8, Eagles Lodge Aerie 1005 and VFW Post 1431. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Robert of CMR 9 and Terry, at home; a daughter, Saundra, at home; his mother, of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Mrs. Keith Brummet and Mrs. Kenneth Brummet of Otterbein, and a granddaughter, Vanessa Lynn West. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Bright & Burkhart Funeral Home with Rev. R. Dale Waltz officiating and interment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
